It's Been a While

Hey ya'll... sorry for the delay since my last post. Just wanted everyone to know the latest on what is going on in the life of the one and only Greg "the Big Show" Krauss.

I am down so far 16lbs. I began to plateau this week but am still encouraged by that news. I have put three new holes in my belt and I am already passed the first two. I really only did this so the whole world wasn't exposed to the "finer" side of me as I would get out of cars or bend over to pick up a twinkie.

I survived thanksgiving. That was quite a weekend. It started with a youth event called the superbowl sponsored by Word of Life. I had not eaten anything past 8 o'clock yet but this night I could not resist. I had the opportunity to have all you can eat pizza and pop at midnight while playing free arcade games at crystal palace. I definately did not put the pizza place out of business as i was romoured to do to Pizza Delight in my home town about 8 years ago. I did also consume a couple glasses of pop that night. My first in two weeks. Saturday then I slept for most of the day except for Thanksgiving dinner with my pastor and his family. I only had extras of the sweet potatoe and one slice of strawverry rhubarb pie (this pie had no sugar in it however because catherine forgot to put it in!!!) Sunday Reanne and I had guests over for some roast beef which was a real highlight. Then Monday it was off to Big Stop in Salisbury for thanksgiving dinner. No dessert for me even though i really wanted some peanut butter pie.

SO for the record, I am still eating 3 meals a day, smaller portion sizes and no seconds. Also I am not eating after 8:00pm except on UFC nights.

Matt Barbour is down a number of pounds so far and while I would like to beat him, which I will, I want to make sure that Matt thinks he is winning. He talks down to me on a daily basis, is critical of my every action, and yet I have remained faithful to the plan I had set out before me.

Matt, this next video is dedicated to you my friend. May the force be with you.

Thanks for your prayers,
Greg Krauss

Day 3 (Wednesday October 8, 2008)

Greetings to one and all.
I would just like to say that I am going to take the high road in this competition and will not be-little Matt in anyway shape or form.

I am feeling pretty well after my first few days. I went walking with Matt today at Mapleton Park. We walked for 52 minutes and covered a total area of 6.7km. It was a long journey with one small run thrown in there (mind you it was hard to keep my jeans up during the run.)

Some of my daily routines include eating breakfast (usually two or three hard boiled eggs) a small lunch, and a normal sized (not Greg sized) dinner with my beautiful wife. Due to my place of work, I am not extremely active but have taken on the challenge of a dily walk and no eating after 8:00pm

This is a boring blog today I know. One thing I do know is that when we weighed in at Herbal Magic (who is not sponsoring this at all we just went there to be weighed and measured) I came in at 349.4 fully clothed. Well, this morning after getting rid of breakfast I weighed in (with no clothing just boxers) at 337.2. So I am sure that I really wasn't in around 350 but more around 345 lbs and so I am beginning to make some progress. We will head back to Herbal Magic in a couple weeks to touch base with the ladies from there and keep them up to date on how we are doing.

Thanks again for all the kind words.

Blessings,
Greg Krauss

P.S. here is a video I know is going to come into play next time Reanne and I do groceries!

Day 1 (Monday October 6, 2008)

Enough's enough and it's time for a change!
- Owen Hart's theme music

If you are reading this, I commend you. There are not many who seek to read the musings of a overweight 26 year old youth pastor. Welcome to the beginning of the journey!

I just want to let everyone know that the decision to do this has nothing to do with self-image, lack of self esteem, or any other negative perceptions of myself. This is simply a lifestyle change so I can live longer. That is all! So do not be concerned with my mental state.

I have been wanting to do this for a while now but never really had anyone along side me to kinda of keep me accountable. My wife Reanne has been encouraging me but I needed something a bit more.

So I mentioned to my friend Matt Barbour (see his blog over on the side bar) that sincehe was moving to Moncton we should begin "The Biggest Loser" competition. This conversation was had on the drive to Oxford, Nova Scotia while we were awaiting our flight to Orlando, Florida. This trip, while beneficial spiritually and vocationally, was not so great on the healthy scale. We began to eat at the Golden Corral Buffet, then a chinese buffet, then a steakhouse, then a pub and eatery and so the story goes. I think the only veggies we would have consumed would have been the lettuce on our burgers!

Anyhow, I encourage you to stay tuned to this (and Matt's) blog and keep us accountable on our journey. As much as I want to beat Matt because of my competitive nature, I also just want us to succeed on this journey for our health.

Peace out and I will update this Blog every second day so stay tuned!

Word!
Greg Krauss
